The small diamonds are set so close together that the ring is quite literally paved with diamonds. The ring's band can be made from either 18kt white or yellow gold, or platinum, as you prefer; however, the beautiful feature of pave rings is the illusion that the surface of the ring is made from solid diamonds rather than metal. Choosing white gold or platinum for the ring's band allows it to blend even better with the diamonds, enhancing this effect.
