Which is the Cheapest Precious Metal?

Platinum is the most expensive precious metal used in our diamond engagement rings. 18kt White Gold is the next most expensive followed by 18kt Yellow Gold. Platinum is rarer than gold and therefore more expensive. The alloys that are combined with gold to create white 18kt gold are more expensive than the alloys used to create yellow 18kt gold.

Which Colour Metal Should I Choose?

Platinum and 18kt White Gold are the two most popular precious metals that are used in diamond engagement rings. When deciding on which metal you would like for your engagement ring, think about what colour jewellery you or your partner wears, white/silver or yellow? The majority of people know what colour they suit and would like for their engagement ring, white or yellow, so once that's decided, you can focus on the quality and price.

  • 18kt white gold and platinum are stronger metals for settings

Hallmarking Engagement Rings

'Hallmarking' is the process of testing the metal of a product and validating it with a stamp, confirming it is what we say it is. Your engagement ring is sent to the London Assay Office at the prestigious Goldsmiths Hall to be hallmarked. All items described as containing precious metal legally have to be tested, assayed and hallmarked in the United Kingdom.

Inside your ring, you will find 3 stamps. You can see examples of these below.
