Gold or Platinum Wedding Rings? At 1791 Diamonds you can choose from 18kt Yellow Gold Wedding Rings, 18kt White Gold Wedding Rings or Platinum Wedding Rings. Which is the Best Metal for my Wedding Ring?
Platinum is the most expensive precious metal used in our wedding bands and diamond engagement rings. 18kt White Gold is the next most expensive, followed by 18kt Yellow Gold. Platinum is hypo-allergenic, tarnish resistant and more durable than 18kt gold. Our platinum is 95% pure and our gold is 75% pure gold, known as 18kt gold. Our 18kt white gold is rhodium plated to give it more shine and lustre. Which Style Wedding Band Should I Choose?
You ideally want your wedding band to complement your engagement ring. When deciding on your wedding ring, 1791 Diamonds would recommend you choose the same precious metal as your engagement ring. If you have small diamonds, for example, channel set into your engagement ring, it can look stunning (and sparkly) to have a row of the same size diamonds channel set into your wedding band. We would also recommend you choose the same shaped wedding ring as your engagement ring. So a "D" shaped engagement ring would suit a "D" shaped wedding band. Read more about diamond carat size here. Hallmarking'Hallmarking' is the process of testing the metal of a product and validating it with a stamp, confirming it is what we say it is. Your engagement ring is sent to the London Assay Office at the prestigious Goldsmiths Hall to be hallmarked. All items described as containing precious metal legally have to be tested, assayed and hallmarked in the United Kingdom. Inside your ring, you will find 3 stamps. You can see examples of these below.
